12:55 Taunton – Stone’s Throw
This looks a competitive maiden hurdle, with a few big yards represented, but my fellow is the only runner with an official handicap mark, having been placed a couple of times. He must go there with a chance with that experience behind him, so I hope he can go well.
13:30 Taunton – Zarhanya
I’ve ridden this mare a couple of times, and two runs ago she ran a nice race at Market Rasen to finish third. I wasn’t on her last time, she seemed to disappoint but apparently had a slight wind issue, so she has the tongue tie on here, and if that helps her, she will hopefully return to her previous form.
14:05 Taunton – Bennettsbridge
Olly [Murphy] thought plenty of this horse, but so far he’s been a bit disappointing. On his reappearance he ran well for a long while and then got tired, so he should improve for that run, and off this mark he needs to start being competitive.
14:40 Taunton – First Angel
I won on this fellow at Stratford last summer, and he ran well on his return at Doncaster before Christmas, finishing fourth. I wouldn’t say he was particularly well-handicapped or anything, but with the benefit of the Doncaster run, he is more than capable of running a nice race here.
15:15 Taunton – Dominic’s Fault
This horse was unlucky not to win at Carlisle first time up this season, and then did win nicely at Lingfield. He’s taken a hammering from the handicapper and is up nine pounds, but the trip and track should suit, and I hope he can take the weights rise in his stride. If he does, this looks a winnable race.
16:20 Taunton – Nobody’s Perfect
I’ve not ridden this horse before, and don’t know too much about him, but it’s his first time in a handicap and he’s in here off a nice low mark. It’s a big field handicap hurdle, and we’ll find out plenty more about him here.
