An exciting double header could be on the cards for the Coral Racing Club next Friday
Our Alice Haynes-trained gelding, Aspire To Glory, was most recently seen finishing 3rd at Kempton on the 9th July, an effort which saw his 2025 figures go to 2741912143. From ten racecourse appearances so far this year, he's only failed to finish in the top four on just two occasions, including three victories, which is a quite remarkable run of form for a racehorse rated just 56.
Earlier this week we caught up with Alice and this was the latest update she provided:
"All is well with Aspire To Glory and we have him pencilled in for Southwell on Friday August 1st or Leicester on Sunday 10th for his next start.
We also have the potential trip to Laytown to race on the beach in September which would be great fun. He's a very versatile horse and I think he'd really enjoy the different challenge that would provide."
Laytown, which is situated around 45 minutes from Dublin, is a coastal town which hosts a one-day racecard per year on their tidal beach which consists of only six and seven furlong races. It's an amazing spectacle and for Alice to even consider it for Aspire To Glory is really exciting.

Over at Whatcombe Stables in Lambourn, Rockstar Icon, who was set to feature at Chepstow on Friday evening, is now also likely to head to Southwell a week today for his next start in the Class 5 Borders Ltd 2024 Handicap over seven furlongs.
Our four-year-old son of Sixties Icon most recently ran at Epsom on the 10th July over 1m½f where he came home in 6th place. That was his second time tackling the extended distance this year, however, he wasn't able to back up his promising reappearance run at Nottingham. As a result of that effort, trainer Oliver Cole is looking to drop him back to seven furlongs for his next race, a trip which has seen Rockstar Icon to best affect so far in his career, including his maiden victory in December 2023.
This time last year we were all very excited as we prepared to head to the Qatar Goodwood Festival with Rockstar Icon, however, things just haven't gone the way we'd have hoped since that day. He is still very lightly raced, and following a 3lb drop in the handicap ratings down to a mark of 68, we're hopeful he could be a well handicapped horse if he can rediscover some spark.
