'The timing looks great for him' – Alice Haynes eyes up Lingfield race next Tuesday for Aspire To Glory
Aspire To Glory could be set to return to the course and distance in which he claimed his second win for the Coral Racing Club next week.
It's been just over two weeks since he was last seen in action when finishing 4th at Chelmsford under Anna Gibson, and that was a much improved effort compared to his first with the young apprentice jockey in the saddle the time before. Despite finishing just out of the top three in his last start, Aspire To Glory has been dropped another pound in the handicap to a mark of 45, and that is his lowest since receiving his opening mark of 59 last summer.
Our three-year-old gelding has had a very active year so far knocking up 13 runs for the Club, including one win over C&D back in January and a further six top four finishes. We know he has his quirks. but there's no denying he tries his heart out every time he hits the racecourse and it certainly feels like he's ready to go and claim his third win sooner rather than later.
That being said, we caught up with trainer Alice Haynes at the end of last week and this is what she told us for her latest update:
"We did enter Aspire To Glory in a race at Wolverhampton earlier this month, but unfortunately he was balloted out. It would have been a quick return following his Chelmsford fourth place, but it just meant we didn’t have a decision to make on whether or not to run him.
He’s been well at home since, he’s race fit, and we just have to keep him ticking over. There’s a race at Lingfield on December 3rd that we’ve got in mind for him, it’s a 0 - 55 over seven furlongs, and it’s also a hands and heels race for apprentices.
He’s won over this course and distance, so we know he goes well there, and the timing looks great for him. We’ll keep you posted."
With Lingfield next Tuesday being the plan, we already have 10 lucky members who were the winners of our last Owner for the Day competition with Aspire To Glory that will be given the chance to attend and experience all the fantastic perks included with the Owner for the Day experience prize package.
Officially entries will come through this Wednesday and declarations will be made on Sunday, so keep an eye out for our final update ahead of next Tuesday's contest and be sure to join us as always from 10am on the day for our Raceday LIVE Preview.
