Brendan Powell exclusive on his five rides today at Wincanton
"No Hubs No Hoobs has improved for a long break"
A busy day for me at a track I've enjoyed a fair bit of luck at over the years, mainly because it is the course local to the Tizzard’s, and they run a lot of nice horses here. It's quite a sharp track rather than one with a long galloping straight, but the fences are fair, and on the whole, the going tends to remain good here throughout the season, so it is a nice place to introduce a youngster and does favour the speedier type of horse.
Wincanton 1.25 – Milanford
I start on Milanford, he’s not a horse I’ve ridden before, but he won a point-to-point and has earned a rating of 120 which puts him towards the top of the weights here. It’s a competitive looking race but I hope he has an each-way chance.
Wincanton 1.55 – Sixty Dollars More
Sixty Dollars More showed a bit of promise when he was second at Fontwell last October, but he didn't really build on that in the two starts that followed. He then didn't finish the race at Chepstow last time, I pulled him up but that was his first run after a long break, and the way he goes at home suggests he could be competitive in a race like this. He will have the blinkers on for the first time as well, so that might eke out a little bit of improvement.
Wincanton 2.25 – No Hubs No Hoobs
No Hubs No Hoobs had his first run over fences at Leicester last season, he was a bit slow over the obstacles that day but then jumped much slicker at Lingfield last time when he finished second. He's a big horse so has probably benefited from having a nice long break and I'd be disappointed if he didn't run a big race here.
Wincanton 2.55 – Across The Line
Previously trained by Dan Skelton, I’ve not ridden Across The Line before either. He is also rated 120 which has him towards the top of the handicap here, he shouldn't have any issues with the trip and has got his nose in front before. Emmett Mullins sends one over from Ireland which always has to be respected but this is a competitive handicap hurdle so anything can happen.
Wincanton 3.25 – Promiseduamiracle
My last ride of the day is on this filly who makes her debut in the bumper. As a filly she gets weight from most of her rivals, but a lot of the big yards are represented here so it could be an above average contest. Hopefully she will enjoy how first experience of a racecourse and we will know a lot more about after this race.
