WATCH: Conservative declared for second start over hurdles on Friday as Lady Mendoza unfortunately misses out
Our gelding made his long awaited debut over obstacles last week, finishing sixth out of nine runners at Worcester in a novices' hurdle contest, and Joe Tizzard has wasted no time in getting another run into our five-year-old before the jumps summer break next week.
Ideally, the team at Venn Farm would like to get him a handicap mark before the National Hunt season kicks into full gear in autumn, and another good opportunity to get some miles under his belt has come up soon after his debut.
In his latest update, Joe Tizzard called Conservative an "enigma and a bit of a puzzle" but one he's "looking forward to cracking", and Friday's race should provide an good opportunity to further assess Conservative's ability.
Watch the latest video from David Stevens as he discusses Conservative's chances, whilst he also provides an update on Lady Mendoza as she's unfortunately another Coral Racing Club runner to fall victim to the oversubscription of this week's national hunt action and has been subsequently balloted out of her intended target at Uttoxeter.
