After what has been a frustrating few months at my yard, I am pleased to say Conservative is showing signs of being back to where he needs to be to race again.

We did a fast piece of work with him last weekend and he came through that with flying colours.

I’ve scheduled another piece of work for him this weekend, and depending on how that goes for him, we can then look to try and find a race for his return. The feedback the jockey gives me from that workout is going to be important, as he will be racing close to 80% of full speed.

What I have noticed from most of my horses that have returned to the racecourse over the last couple of weeks is that they have fared like they have needed the run. Given many of them have had an illness, that isn’t a big surprise.

If we can get Conservative as fit as possible for his return, hopefully, he will fare much better, and we can take advantage of his handicap mark.
