Conservative is set to be entered in a 0-80 handicap over the extended 1m distance at Wolverhampton next Monday. I am pleased with the way he came out of his run at Southwell last week, and I think he is ready to go again.

I spoke to the handicapper this morning and he is dropping his mark down from 81 to 78, which means we get into the race. A 3lb lower mark makes life easier for him, and with a run now behind him, I expect him to take a big step forward in this next assignment.

The prize money on offer in this race is worth double what it normally is, which is great news. We will be one of the highest-rated runners in the field, so as long as Conservative takes another step forward, there is no reason why we can’t be competitive at the very least.

I’ll do a couple of quick pieces of work with him this week to keep him sharp, but it’s all systems go now for Wolverhampton, which is very exciting. I hope to see some of you there for what could be a big evening.
