Katalyst fails to back up her form in latest run at Nottingham | Raceday Highlights
Having performed so well there two starts ago, trainer Chris Grassick, chose to send her back over the course and distance to see if she could back up that form in familiar surroundings. However, she was faced with an uphill battle from the start, having been drawn widest of all in stall 11, hampering her chances of employing the front running tactics that served her so well last time out. The blinkers were applied once more, although a slightly different type, that allowed her to see a little bit more of her surroundings, giving her the chance to respond more quickly to her opposition making moves, which could've cost her last time out.

Lewis Edmunds, Katalyst's jockey on the day, got her to break away really well from the stalls, but because of the wide draw the pair were unable to make their way to the front of the field. The race was run at a quick pace from the get go, also hampering Katalyst's quest to get to the front of the field and eventually she had to settle towards the rear of the field and on the outside.

As the field approached the straight, Katalyst looked as though she might be coming with a run, but unfortunately the wide course that she had to run around the bend took it's toll on her and our three-year-old filly began to fade. Lewis Edmunds began to ease her down once it was clear that Katalyst wasn't going to be able to make up anymore ground on her rivals and allowed her to come home in her own time.
WATCH: Chris Grassick gives his immediate reaction to Katalyst's run at Nottingham
We caught up with Chris Grassick the morning after Katalyst's Nottingham run, to find out how she had come out of the race and what the next steps with her might be:
"Most importantly Katalyst is absolutely fine this morning. We can definitely see that she has ability, as evidenced in her run at Nottingham last month, but her temperament appears to be the thing that's holding her back.
The draw certainly made it hard for us yesterday and more horses than we expected looked to make the running of the race, which left us stuck out wide for the whole race. We can see that she likes to have horses running behind her to get her going, and yesterday there just wasn't anybody back there to keep her on the pace.
Hopefully next time we can get her to the front of the race and we'll see her back to her best."
It shouldn't be too long before we see Katalyst back in action again soon, and hopefully she'll be able to bounce back well from this run.
