We decided not to run Lady Mendoza at Southwell on Friday, for two main reasons.

Firstly, the official going is good to soft, soft in places, which we know is softer than she ideally wants it, so we’ll wait for better ground somewhere soon. 

Secondly, as you may be aware, in both December and January we have been affected by fairly severe flooding of the main straight gallop here. We have been lucky to have had the use of our round all-weather gallop throughout this time, and we have also been able to box horses to Chris Grant's gallop and the grass at Denys Smiths for faster work, but I think it's going to take a short time to get the horses back into a routine and on an even keel.

In the meantime we will continue to exercise the horses on the trusty round gallop, and taking some away for fast work. Our outdoor school has been in full use all the time, so schooling and jumping has not been affected, and with lots of the season still to come, I am confident we will have a great spring with Lady Mendoza, and I would just like to thank members for bearing with us.
