Sweet Katarina is well on her way to making her racecourse debut later this summer, and has been impressing in her work on the gallops at home in recent weeks.

One of our three new recruits this summer, Sweet Katarina is a half sister to our other Chris Grassick-trained filly, Katalyst. The team at Linkslade Stables, in Lambourn, have been hard at work with our two-year-old out of Sergei Prokofiev, and by all accounts she's been taking everything in her stride during the early stages of her full-time training.

Having sat on Sweet Katarina on the gallops for her most recent piece of work, Lewis Edmunds is in the best possible position to give us an update on exactly how she's been getting on and the kind of level we can expect from her when she heads out on course for the first time. He's been happy with how she's galloped alongside some more experienced horses in the yard, although there is still some greenness, which is to be expected and should be worked out in time, as she continues to progress.

As both Chris and Lewis have mentioned, we shouldn't be too far off Sweet Katarina's debut, which is expected to be towards the end of June or the start of July. Keep an eye on the Coral Racing Club to find out when and where you'll see her carrying the blue and white silks for the first time in her career!
