He's showing he's more than capable at home – latest Aspire To Glory update

08 Oct 2023

Aspire To Glory has done two really nice pieces of work, one last Saturday morning, and another again yesterday morning (Thursday).

He’s definitely maturing, and he ran much more of a race at Kempton last time than his finishing position may have suggested, and that experience should also set him up nicely for his next run.

On that subject, we did give him an entry at Brighton for next Tuesday, it’s a 0 - 55 rated nursery handicap and may not end up being a very good race, but I’d be a little bit unsure about running him on
what is such an undulating track. So for that reason, we’ll head instead to Yarmouth on Monday 16th, it’s a nice galloping, flat track, and obviously he’s run there before. The race there is a 0 – 60 over seven furlongs, which is the trip he wants now.

Christian Howarth – who rode him at Yarmouth  got off him after this morning’s work and couldn't work out how he hadn't won a race yet, so he's showing he's more than capable at home still. He's been a slow learner on the track, which has frustrated us, but on the flip side it does mean he's racing off a low mark. When the penny does drop with him on the track, he should have every chance of going close off his current handicap mark. I can also assure members I'm still really happy with him, so roll on Yarmouth!
