Hugo Palmer has his eye on three or four races for Cast No Shadow – latest from Manor House
Cast No Shadow is ticking along nicely at home, and he seems in very good order with himself and appears to be moving very well.
He’s just been doing some steady work at home to keep him fit, and we’ll then look to step up his work when we get nearer to a run.
We’ve been having a look at the programme, and strangely there isn’t many sprint handicap options at the moment for a horse rated 73, so it looks like we might have to drop back into a maiden or a novice for our next race. There are a few races coming up that we have our eye on, so we’ll probably give him an entry in three or four of them, and see how they shape up nearer the time.
There’s a 5f maiden at Newcastle on 25th January that I’d imagine we’d enter him for. We know that stiff test at Newcastle suits him, and you’d hope he could be competitive in a maiden like that at this time of year. There are also 6f races at Lingfield (26th Jan), Wolverhampton (3rd Feb) and Lingfield (11th Feb), so we’ll just keep a close eye on them and try and find the race that gives him the best chance of finally getting his head in front.
We were going to give him a break around now, but he seems in really good form with himself, so it makes sense to crack on with him when we can.
