I’ve entered Cave Article to run at Catterick next Friday in the Class 5 Handicap Chase over 3m1f. I rang Brian Hughes up on Saturday morning, as he is only 10 minutes down the road from the track, and he told me the ground should suit him.

Although he won on soft ground at Sedgefield last time, I still think he will be better when conditions are not quite as testing, which is why I’ve not run him since his victory. Catterick is currently ‘Good To Soft’, and that will be ideal for Cave Article. He is in great form at home, and I’ve recently stepped up his work over the last couple of weeks, with the view to run him in either late January or early February.

The handicapper put us up 7lb for that win in December, but he relished the step up in distance, so he remains off a workable mark. I’ve entered three horses in the race, and I will confirm jockey bookings on Wednesday morning at the declaration stage.
