Diamond Days 'showing much more zest' after his short break | Latest update from Joe Tizzard
We’d put him back over hurdles in a bid to give him a bit of a confidence booster, but he was never travelling and ultimately Brendan [Powell] pulled him up.
We couldn’t find anything physically wrong with him after that but he was just a bit quiet at home. He wasn't his usual self at all and he wasn’t moving with any great enthusiasm on the gallops, so we gave him a quiet couple of weeks and it appears to have helped. He’s much more like his old self now, showing much more zest.
We’ll give him another ten days of work and will then look for a race, probably over hurdles, but we’ll keep our options open. Somewhere like Newton Abbot where the ground will be decent and still have some ease in it as we don’t want to jar him up, but not heavy, winter ground.
He’s been a bit of a rascal so far, but we’re enjoying the challenge of trying to work him out!
