Hey Day Baby: Settling in well at Jackdaws Castle
Our newest Coral Racing Club horse, Hey Day Baby, is settling in well at her new Jackdaws Castle home, as trainer Jonjo O’Neill tells us here:
“Hey Day Baby was just a little bit under the weather when she arrived here from the Sandown sale, I suppose it was the horse equivalent of the minor colds that we humans pick up at this time of the year, and it wasn’t surprising as she’d travelled from Ireland to the auction, and was then close to the other horses in the sale, so these little bugs can be transferred easily. It was nothing serious though, and we gave her a few extra days in our quarantine yard here, and then when we moved her to the main yard she was all fine.
For the first couple of weeks she just did gentle canters while she settled in, and then earlier this week she did her first faster piece of work on the grass gallop, which was an exciting step forward. It’s still early days but we were very pleased with her, and we can build upon that now, gradually increasing the intensity of the work as we build towards her first run.”
