Cast No Shadow set for potential debut at Ripon this week – latest update from Hugo Palmer
It’s great that we finally have a name for our Coral Racing Club two-year-old, and I’m delighted to say that Cast No Shadow has really been pleasing us in his work at home.
He did a really good piece of work at the end of last week, and he’ll do another piece of work in the middle of this week, but I’m really happy with how he’s progressing.
We’ve given him an entry in the 5f maiden at Ripon (14:46) on Saturday, so providing he has another good week then we can look forward to his racecourse debut.
He has a really good attitude, and he has plenty of speed, so while I think he’ll end up over 6f sooner rather than later, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to start him over the minimum trip. I wanted to start him on a straight track too, so Ripon should be perfect for him, and I’m really excited to get him started.
I’ll keep everybody updated later on in the week on whether he’ll be declared for definite, but hopefully we can look forward to our first run with him, and I’m really looking forward to meeting the Coral Racing Club members at the track very soon.
