WATCH: Cast No Shadow – A horse for a course with Hugo Palmer
Hugo assesses how the race unfolded and praises jockey Silvestre De Sousa for providing a "typical" yet "super" ride from the front by the Brazilian jockey.
He also discusses how Cast No Shadow is now likely to be kept to the all-weather courses, given he's now truly proved that's where he belongs (at least for the time being), and how that's likely to dictate his plans for the club's three-year-old gelding throughout the rest of the year.
"I'm sure Mick will be keen for us to run!"
The next race over the same course and distance (5f) of Cast No Shadow's two wins that we're aiming at is part of the Racing League fixture on August 22nd. There is excellent prize money on offer, and the timing suits us. The only potential issue is the format of the event. We're part of the North team, captained by Mick Quinn, who has the final say over what runners represent the team for each race.
That said, with Cast No Shadow's excellent Newcastle record, I'm sure Mick will be keen for us to run! So we'll aim for the 22nd and keep you all posted.
